Tools for Parents Series
God wants parents to pass His legacy down to their children. We can see with today's youth that things are getting in the way of that pass being recieved. It is the desire of Building Strong Families (BSF) to give you some tools so the pass can be complete and your children can run with God's legacy in their heart. We want to show you some of the reasons the pass is incomplete and how to overcome in those areas.
Building Strong Families is connecting with people who will open their homes and their churches to offer these classes free of charge. It is easy. You invite some friends over and serve some light snacks and BSF will come into your home to do the classes free of charge. The result: 1)Families are able to stay connected with their children from birth right into adulthood. 2)God's values will become your children's values and not just your values. 3)God will get the glory.
The Command
Do you want to pass the legacy of God down to your children? Living in a country where things of the world are thrown at them, is it even possible? Yes!! With God ALL things are possible! This class will give you many practical tips to show you how to help your children grow up to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, and mind. Come join us as we find out exactly what command God has given.
Brain and Body Development
In order to pass God's commands and values down to your children, you must present them in a way that they will receive them. Knowing how the brain develops helps you better understand how to do that. This class will help you walk away with great insight to why kids act the way they do and why teenagers "think" they know everything. You will look at teenagers in a whole new light.
Needs of a Child
There is more to raising a child than making sure they are clothed and fed. They have many other needs. If those needs are not met, it could affect them into their adult life. This class will explain the different physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and academic needs. We will offer different tips and ideas on how you can make sure your children's needs are being met.
Parenting Styles
Did you know that there are different styles of parenting? The way you parent can determine if your child accepts or rejects the things that you are trying to teach them. We will go over the different styles, talk about what kind of parenting style you were raised under, and what style you are currently using. We will show you how to tie the knowledge that you have gained in the three previous classes together with the way you work with your children.
Communication
Do you find yourself yelling at your spouse and/or your children or are you able to stay calm and handle situations in a way that brings honor and glory to God? This class will teach you exactly what communication is, how to send a message to someone so that they will receive it, and offer you a practical communication model. This information will help you to be effective when communicating with people at home, work, school, in your church, or in your neighborhood.
